I have now watched two complete football games and that is two more than ever before. After yesterday's game I will not rush to repeat the experience as I didn't enjoy it. You see I CARED, so every missed kick by England and every ball kicked towards England's goal made me feel ill. At one point in the second - half? is it called a half? - I went to the ladies and putzed around for AGES, hoping to come back to a goal, ANY goal, just so the agony would end.
During the second 45 minutes (except it's never 45 minutes, what's up with that?) I wrote down the top ten things I liked and disliked.
Liked:
1. the clock keeps ticking
2. goalie is a brick, what an awful job
3. all the singing
4. Victoria Beckham's boobs, plastic surgery doesn't have to be outlandish
5. texts from chum at Henley
6. just generally enjoyed some bits
7. sort of understand the offside rule now
8. everyone in the pub yelling
9. all the hand holding and hugging
10. the announcer's jokes including "I don't think I can stand another 30 minutes of this"
Disliked:
1. everything gets set up and then no goal!
2. all the "injury" game playing
3. not understanding things
4. the tension
5. Rooney shoving that guy so petulantly
6. generally hated some bits
7. the time indicator on the scoreboard doesn't give you any idea when the play will end (someone holds up a board for a split second to say how many extra minutes)
8. 30 more minutes of this!
9. this is the way to determine who wins, just kicking at the end?
10. the result
